Being that I am so Californian these days, I decided to do a juice cleanse. We do have a Blentek blender and a juicer, but the thought of juicing 8 different juices a day for 3 days seemed like way too much effort. Yes, I am lazy. So I started researching online to see what good, local juice cleanses there were. And being that I live in San Francisco, I didn’t have to look far…
I did look at one delivery service that I had read about in the NY Times called BluePrint Cleanse that delivers but isn’t sourced locally. The price of this one is about $65 a day for 6 juices.
When you do a search on Yelp for juice cleanses in SF, you get a plethora of different options. But the one that appealed to me the most was the Can Can cleanse. I love the cute little jars and their brand image. Plus it seemed like a reasonable option that didn’t only include juices, but a soup and almond milk as well. Instead of the 6 juices a day served in plastic bottles that the Blue Print offered, the Can Can has 8 juices a day. Plus they are a local company that will deliver the fresh juices to your house (for a charge of $15).
Each day, you will consume the same seasonal menu of 8 nutrient-rich beverages:
- 2 Fruit Juices
- 2 Green Vegetable Juices
- 2 Herbal Teas
- 1 Nut Milk
- 1 Savory Soup
Approximately 1000 calories per day.
The total price of the cleanse is $185, but there are add-ons like a tote bag and delivery fees. I opted for both even though I’m not sure what the tote bag is for.
I will start the actual cleanse on Monday – with delivery done of all the juices on Sunday evening around 7pm. I’m not quite sure I can fit this into the fridge! You also have the option of picking up the juices at their location. You are supposed to prep your body with a pre-cleanse eliminating alcohol and caffeine, etc…
According to the website, the schedule for consuming juices is:
- 8:00am Lemon Ginger Juice
- 9:00am Green Juice
- 10:30am Dandelion Tea
- 12:30pm Winter Orange Soup
- 2:30pm Spiced Apple Juice
- 5:00pm Green Juice
- 7:00pm Mixed Nut Milk
- 8:00pm Echinacea Lemongrass Tea
Well, wish me luck. I’ll do an update once the cleanse is through. Let’s see if I can get through it!
